Patient Experience Continuing Education Credits (PXEs), available through The Beryl Institute Credentialing Center, are designed to enhance expertise and advance professional practice in patient experience. Patient Experience University (PXU) supports the field by promoting certification, providing ongoing education opportunities, and advancing the continuous improvement of human experience in healthcare.

Most webinars offered by The Beryl Institute are eligible for one PXE credit. PXE credits can be earned by attending a live webinar or viewing a webinar recording. More than 65 webinar recordings are currently available with membership.

ELEVATE PX

Participants in ELEVATE PX, the global patient experience event, have the opportunity to earn a variety of continuing education credits, including Patient Experience Education (PXE), AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (CME for MDs and DOs), and other credits for healthcare professionals such as PAs, NPs, nurses, NAHQ, and social work.

ELEVATE PX is offered annually, with member pricing available through The Beryl Institute.

Teaching & Instruction

You may earn Patient Experience Education (PXE) credits through contributions that advance the field of patient experience.

  • 1 PXE for teaching a patient experience course, workshop, or webinar
  • 1 PXE for presenting at a patient experience or healthcare conference on a patient experience-related topic
  • 1 PXE for writing a patient experience article, case study, book, chapter, or paper
  • 1 PXE for completing a patient experience-related academic course

Examples of documentation include:

  • A syllabus, agenda, or web listing identifying you as a teacher or presenter
  • A title page or publication listing you as an author or contributor
  • A course transcript showing successful completion
  • A letter from an organization confirming your role, including the title, date, and signature

Professional Service Activities

You may earn Patient Experience Education (PXE) credits through service that supports the advancement of patient experience.

  • 1 PXE for each year of service as an officer of a healthcare association, board, or professional society
  • 1 PXE for one year of participation on a committee or workgroup of a healthcare association, board, or professional society

Examples of documentation include:

  • A letter from the organization listing the name of the board, committee, or association, the dates of service, and your role or title

How to Claim PXEs

PXEs are earned by participating in approved activities that meet patient experience education standards. Instructions for claiming credit are provided by the organization offering the activity.

After completing an activity, follow the instructions provided to claim your PXE credit and retain documentation for your records.

For Beryl Institute webinars, PXE credit is awarded after completing the required survey, whether attending live or viewing a webinar recording. Instructions for claiming PXE credit are provided after the survey is completed.
