What is the difference between a certificate program and a certification?
A certificate program shows you’ve completed a course or series of courses to learn about a topic. It helps build your knowledge or skills.
A certification proves you’re qualified to do a specific job. It usually requires passing an exam and meeting ongoing requirements, like continuing education.
How do Body of Knowledge courses tie into CPXP Certification?
The Body of Knowledge offers a comprehensive review of patient experience concepts, but completing the courses is not required for the CPXP exam and does not guarantee a passing score. However, the courses are accredited for Patient Experience Continuing Education Credits (PXEs), which can be used toward exam eligibility or CPXP recertification.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations or requests for refunds must be received in writing to The Beryl Institute via email to pxlearning@theberylinstitute.org within 14 days of registration.
A cancelled registration may be eligible to receive a full refund less $50 for the service fee under the following conditions:
- If any of the course materials have been accessed/viewed or a virtual class was attended, the refund will be allocated minus the service fee and the current individual course rate for the course(s) accessed/viewed or attended.
- Cancellation requests received after 14 business days will not be refunded.

PX 101

What's included in PX 101
PX 101 includes up to 3.5 hours of customizable, in-person, facilitator-led content, plus reinforcement tools. It’s designed to align with your organization’s branding and culture and should be integrated into your broader patient experience efforts for maximum impact. The toolkit consists of the following components:
- Resource Overview
- Classroom Sessions (7) – PowerPoints, Facilitator Notes, and Participant Handouts
- Reinforcement Whiteboard Videos (7)
- Guide for Leaders (Includes reinforcement follow-up activities)
PX 101 includes three on-demand learning SCORM files, known as Introduction to Patient Experience, to load into your organization’s learning management system (LMS) providing flexibility and accessibility to deepen your staff’s understanding of patient experience at their own pace. Each module provides 20-30 minutes of storytelling, reflection and quick activities to keep your workforce engaged.
On-demand modules:
- What is Patient Experience?
- The Ripple Effect of Patient Experience
- Connecting to Your Purpose
To help you get started, The Beryl Institute provides a 30-minute implementation session to support those preparing to deliver/facilitate PX 101.
Who is PX 101 for?
PX 101 is for all team members, clinical and non-clinical, across any healthcare setting. It supports both new and experienced staff as part of a broader strategy to strengthen patient experience excellence.
Do I have to be a member to purchase PX 101?
No, you don’t need to be a member to purchase PX 101. However, members and organizational members receive discounted pricing and access to additional resources to support patient experience training.

Can the content be integrated into a learning management system (LMS)?
While the 7 sessions are designed as facilitator led education and not formatted to be delivered as a stand-alone on-demand module(s), the file formats of the resources included are PDFs, PowerPoints and Word documents which can technically be uploaded into any LMS. These are not plug and play materials.
PX 101 includes three on-demand learning SCORM files, known as Intro to PX, to load into your organization’s learning management system (LMS) providing flexibility and accessibility to deepen your staff’s understanding of patient experience at their own pace. Each module provides 15-20 minutes of storytelling, reflection and quick activities to keep your workforce engaged. This requires the ability to load SCORM files into the organization’s LMS with the assistance of your IT or Learning Teams.
Where or how would I use the on-demand Intro to PX modules?
The intention is that Intro to PX be shared broadly across your organization with all roles and departments. Since every person in a healthcare organization impacts patient experience--the ones who interact with patients and those who don’t--we recommend Intro to PX be accessible to your entire workforce. Some organizations may choose to use Intro to PX as part of the new employee orientation process or pre-work prior to attending a PX 101 session. As you customize your patient experience efforts to fit your organization’s culture and current education delivery methods, consider how best to “plug in” Intro to PX to PX 101 or an existing process or program.
Who is best to lead and/or facilitate PX 101 at my organization?
PX 101 can be led by anyone with basic facilitation skills and some knowledge of your patient experience efforts. The resource includes everything needed - PowerPoint slides and a detailed Facilitator Guide - to support consistent, engaging delivery. Multiple facilitators can be involved to fit your team’s needs.
Does the purchase of PX 101 include implementation or “train the trainer” support from The Beryl Institute?
To help you get started, The Beryl Institute provides a 30-minute implementation session to support those preparing to deliver/facilitate PX 101.
Does PX 101 offer Patient Experience Continuing Education Credits (PXEs)?
No, PX 101 does not offer PXE credits due to its customizable format and flexible use. However, organizations may apply to offer PXE credit by reviewing the eligibility requirements through the Credentialing Center.
