In spring of 2020, media headlines likening health care workers to superheroes and public outpouring of respect and recognition during the first wave of COVID-19 provided encouragement and motivation. For health care workers the impact of stress and burnout on their mental health were felt well before the pandemic. The last several years have only exacerbated these feelings.
