Using Innovative Text Messaging to Keep Families and Loved Ones Informed During Inpatient Stays

Based on two different analyses conducted on different units at different points in time, Houston Methodist Hospital found that every HCAHPS domain is significantly improved when patients’ family members and loved ones receive daily text updates during the patient’s inpatientstay, when compared to patients whose loved ones did not receive text messages duringtheir inpatient care.
