It has been almost a year since the killing of George Floyd. His death sparked protests around the world, made even more significant as the world found itself in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the pandemic itself placed a powerful spotlight on the problem of inequities in healthcare overall. May 2020 sparked a renewed wave of awareness about how much systems and policies have impacted people of color, especially Black Americans and how a lack of action has perpetuated deeply rooted realities.
