In 2011, executives at Adventist Health Howard Memorial were planning for construction of a new hospital building expected to open in 2015. They recognized the need to involve the staff and community in reassessing their organization’s culture so they could develop a comprehensive plan for matching the positive changes in the physical environment with a deliberately designed organizational culture of compassion, excellence and engagement.
