The Power of Self-Healing: Improving Experience Through Mindfulness

According to the U.S. National Institute, nursing is identified as one of the most stressful careers, and mindfulness has been identified as a technique for managing stress in the nursing profession. This paper reveals how an improved state of mindfulness of nurse case managers reduced stress and improved the experience of care and outcomes of patients and caregivers in an acute rehabilitation setting. Supported by a research grant from The Beryl Institute, a doctoral scholar examines the impact of mindfulness training of staff nurses, patients and families in achieving a successful transition from rehabilitation to the home environment.
