Evaluation of an Innovative Multi-Strategy Approach to Kangaroo Care Promotion in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Published July 6, 2016

In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), facilitating bonding between the separated preterm baby and parent(s) is a top priority. However, conventional approaches to care do not always allow for infant-parent bonding time. This study from Baptist Health South Florida evaluated an innovative, evidence-based, multi-strategy quality improvement Kangaroo Care (KC) promotion program and its impact on a number of KC occurrences, physiological outcomes in infants who experienced KC, nurse knowledge gain of KC and parent attachment after experiencing KC.
