Reliance on technology for responding to patient call lights created a siloed and inefficient environment for both the patient and health care team. The A3 process improvement team is comprised of unit Nurse Managers, front line staff, nurses specializing in Patient Experience and a former patient. By reducing the dependence on technology, Spectrum Health System hypothesized that they could improve the overall patient experience; enhance team work; help staff “connect with purpose;” save time and money through gained efficiencies and reduce alarm fatigue. .
