During 2014 the Care Quality Commission (CQC), in collaboration with the Picker Institute, ran the National Children and Young People’s Inpatient and Day Surgery Survey, specifically asking children who were 8-11 years old and 11 years plus about their experiences of care, alongside asking their parents. The survey results published in 2015 have been part of a national program building and embedding the voice and experiences of children and young people into healthcare delivery across England. This webinar will present some of the survey findings and the impact the data has had. Other initiatives include the use of the Friends and Family test with children, the establishment of a national NHS Youth Forum and the use of social media in building a community of activists in mobilizing the voices of children and young people in healthcare to directly improve experiences of care. By attending this webinar, participants will consider the impact of hearing directly from children and young people about what matters to them in healthcare and what this means for local and national improvement programs. Participants will become inspired and energized, importantly exploring the movement that is growing across England to hear and respond to.
