WMTY Day 2025

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025

Mark Your Calendars!
"What Matters to You?" Day is Coming!

WMTY day is an international day dedicated to fostering more meaningful conversations in health and social care. It is celebrated to move beyond clinical checklists and understand what's truly important to the people we care for, from their perspective.

What is WMTY Day All About?
Simple Steps, Profound Impact

ASK: Go beyond "What's the matter?" Ask open-ended questions like:

  • "What matters to you today?"
  • "What's most important for you to get out of this today, [this visit/stay]?"
  • "What can I do to help you feel comfortable/safe?"

LISTEN: Truly hear the answer. Pay attention to verbal and non-verbal cues. Understand the meaning behind the words.

DO: Act on what you hear. This doesn't always mean grand gestures! Often, it's the small things that count.

Your WMTY Day Mission:
Just One Conversation on June 3rd!

On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025:

  • Ask ONE patient, colleague, or person: "What matters to you today?"
  • Listen carefully to their response.
  • Do what you reasonably can to honor their request, or note it down for follow-up if needed.

It's that simple! One focused interaction.

How Did It Go? Tell Us!
Let's Show the Power of Listening

Share Your Story: After your WMTY conversation, reflect:

  • What did the person share?
  • What were you able to do?
  • How did it feel?

How to Share:

  • Share during our next team huddle/meeting.
  • Email your experience to [Specific Email Address/Person].
  • Use the online tool at [Link].

Our Goal: To gather these stories and demonstrate that most "what matters" requests are achievable and often surprisingly simple, yet incredibly meaningful.
